An administrator must enable Screen Sharing. Please contact Psych/CNS Technology Services for support at psychit@nyu.edu or cnsit@nyu.edu


Once enabled please follow the steps below: 


  1. Open the Cisco AnyConnect VPN by clicking the Apple Spotlight search icon and typing in Cisco.

    When the results appear click the Cisco Any Connect Secure Mobility Client globe icon to open the VPN software.

  2. Once you have connected to the NYU VPN, navigate to the Apple Finder by clicking the Smiley icon from the Dock.

  3. Click the Go menu at the top of the screen and select Connect to Server.

  4. In the Server Address box at the top of the Connect to Server dialogue window, enter vnc:// followed by the hostname of the Mac followed by the remainder of the domain name, cns.nyu.edu or psych.nyu.edu Click the Connect button to begin the remote connection session.

  5. The Screen Sharing (VNC) software will prompt you for the username and password used to connect to the remote computer.  Some users still have a local username such as dailyuser or Firstname LastName, others have been moved to the NYU Active directory system and their username would be their NetiD.Click Sign In.

  6. The remote computer may present with the lock screen and you will have to enter the computer credentials again.
    Note: If the remote computer is currently logged in you may not be prompted for the credentials again.

  7. Once logged in, if your local computer screen is a smaller size and/or resolution, the remote image may appear super tiny.  To resize, navigate on the remote computer to the Apple icon in the top left corner and select System Preferences
    Note: sometimes when the System Prefrences panel loads it is already within a specific preference page,if so, click the dotted square button at the top to return to view all preferences.

  8. Click the Displays preferences icon.

  9. Choose the Display tab at the top, then select Scaled  

  10. Then select the left most option, usually called Larger Text. 

  11. Your remote session screen should resize. Note: when you return to the physical computer in the office, you will have to reset the scaling back to your desired settings.
