Note: These instructions are a work in progress.
Sometimes Google Backup and Sync software hiccups and does not complete a sync. This tends to happen if there are extraneous spaces or special characters in a file name. Good practice is to us only letters, numbers, dashes and periods in a file name and file extension. Avoid using slashes, colons, parenthesis etc.
The first step to report a Google Drive sync issue is to email your Google Backup and Sync log files by sending us the log files. To do so:
On Windows, click the Start menu and type in the word run and press enter.
Enter the following path
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Drive\user_default
and press enter.
Drag and drop the sync log.log into an email and send to us at psychit@nyu.edu or cnsit@nyu.edu if you are conversing with us, or in response to any previous emails from us or from askit@nyu.edu.
Now let's get the version number of the actively running Google Backup and Sync software. To do so, click the Cloud+ up arrow
or cloud + spinning arrows icon at the bottom right of your Windows taskbar (tray).
Then, at the top right of the dialogue that pops up, click the 3 verticle dots and select About.
The verion number will be displayed in the popup window.
Double click on the number to select the entire number, then right click and select copy.
Paste the version number into your response email. Thanks in advance.
