- If off campus or on NYU WiFi, enable the NYU VPN Service prior to connecting to your NYU workstation via the Remote Desktop Connection software. Click here if you need instructions on how to setup the NYU VPN Service
- Open the RDP on your Windows 10 PC by clicking on the search box on the taskbar, type Remote Desktop Connection, and then select Remote Desktop Connection.
- In Remote Desktop Connection, type the name of the PC you want to connect to, and then select Connect.
- You will prompted to enter the credentials to your remote computer.
When logging in remotely, sometimes you may be required to use the AD\NetID convention for the username.
Note: If you are using a LOCAL user account and not a Network\NetID account to log into the computer, remember that the username must have the .\ prefix appended to it in order to tell RDP that you are using a local account, for example .\Username
