This article outlines how to connect to Network Shares from Microsoft Windows 10.
- If connecting from off campus, or from NYU WiFi or NYU-Net to HSRN, first connect to the NYU VPN service.
- Click the Start Menu
- Type "This PC" and click to open the Explorer window. Select the Computer tab and click Map network drive.
- Select your desired drive letter.
- \\[hostname]\[share name] where [hostname] is the fully qualified domain (FQDN) name of the server and where [share name] is the name of the share.
Be sure to check Connect using different credentials so that you may enter your NYU NetID credentials. If this is a public workstation or shared workstation DO NOT select Reconnect at logon if it is your own computer or workstation then you may want to select Reconnect at logon as well so that it auto mounts on reboot. - If prompted for your credentials. Enter the letters "ad" followed by a backslash, followed by your NYU NetID, for example ad\jnw216 . In the password field, enter your NYU password.
- Upon clicking OK the drive will appear in your This PC window. To view the S: drive, search This PC in the Windows Start Menu and select it.
